Weight: 155 lb (70.3 kg)
Appearance:
Tsuyoshi is a man of average height and weight. His hair is straight and goes down to the neck, and is raven colored. His muscle build is average, and he has no visible scars on his body. It is styled so most of his bangs go to the right, and the rest goes behind his left ear. One noticeable feature is his glasses, which he wears because of his myopia. Traditional treatment of myopia don't work on him because he is allergic to Retinax V, the drug used to treat myopia.
While on-duty Tsuyoshi wears the standard Starfleet uniform. A standard colored turtleshell undertunic, in Tsuyoshi's case colored red to signify his command position, covered by a black jacked with colored bands (in Tsuyoshi's case, again red), and the shoulders and upper chest of which is made of a ribbed, thick, blue-gray material. The pants, socks, and shoes are black. The comm badge is worn on the jacket, while the rank pins are worn on the collar of the undertunic.
While off-duty, Tsuyoshi wears very different clothes than while on-duty. In contrast to the black-and-gray starfleet uniform, while off duty Tsuyoshi wears a white, form-fitting tunic. This tunic bears some resemblance to both the cassocks of Catholic priests and Mandarin Chinese dress. This clothing was custom ordered by Tsuyoshi, and designed to reflect his ancestor's many of whom were Catholic priests and priestesses before the formation of the Federation.

Personality:
Tsuyoshi isn't a very outgoing person, but he's very kind. You'll find that he won't hesitate to help anyone. It doesn't matter who it is, your race could be at war with the Federation and he'd still help you if you send out a distress call. It's not that hard to become his friend, but you do need to earn his trust. He will trust you as long as he doesn't have a reason not to trust you.
Tsuyoshi also hates breaking any and all promises he makes, no matter how small. If he gives you his word, he not only expects you to hold him to it but he holds himself to it. The only times he has gone against his word is under extraordinary circumstances. Of course, sometimes he bites off more than he can chew, as he finds it difficult to say "no" to people.
It's not uncommon to find him in the library reading on various subjects. Tsuyoshi loves to expand his old base of knowledge. This turned into a love of books after sometime, and he finds that his favorite genre is science fiction. As a scientist, it fascinates him to see what people write about what they expect or expected the future to be like.
Tsuyoshi usually keeps his feelings to himself, preferring not to let what he feels show. He doesn't like the thought of others knowing how he feels, it makes him somewhat uncomfortable. He usually isn't very successful at this, but nevertheless he does his best to keep his feelings private.
Tsuyoshi loves diversity. He was raised in Hawaii, a ethnically diverse area on Earth, and grew to love the diversity. He loved seeing many people and cultures live together in harmony. He never wants to let go of this. In fact, in every command post he has ever had, he personally made sure that at least 50% of the crew of his ship was from a race other than human. Most of the time his senior staff also consists of people from various alien races.
As a child, Tsuyoshi was always fascinated with the concept of honor. He studied many "codes of honor" during his childhood, including the Klingon code of honor and Japanese Bushido. In the end, he decided to follow his own interpretation of honor. He adopted his own interpretation of Bushido, and uses it as his guiding principles in conjunction with the guiding principles of the United Federation of Planets.
History:
Tsuyoshi was born on Stardate 28934.1 (January 7th, 2350) in Honolulu, Hawaii. From an extremely young age he was fascinated by science, and his dream was to one day become a scientist. His parents encouraged him to pursue his dream and join Starfleet. As soon as he graduated from Kaizer High School he enrolled into Starfleet academy. By this time he still wanted to be a scientist, but also wanted to be in the stars exploring the unknown. He graduated the academy in 2372 and was assigned to the USS Atlantic, a Oberth-class Science ship. At the start of the year 2373, he requested a position aboard the USS Explorer, one of the first Saber-class Starships ever built, and was given his first assignment as bridge officer when he was chosen for the Operations Officer.
Tsuyoshi was looking forward to the experience as he hoped to take part in many scientific expeditions. However his hopes were dashed by the start of the Dominion War. He showed exemplary service throughout the dominion war. By the end of 2373 he was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade. In 2374, the Explorer took part in Operation Return to recapture Deep Space 9. The Explorer was heavily damaged in the engagement and the Captain, First Officer Second Officer, and Third Officer were killed in a explosion that rocked the ship. In the heat of the moment he took command of the ship, saving the vessel and helping in recapturing Deep Space 9. Pressed for resources, Starfleet decided to give Tsuyoshi a field promotion to Captain and gave him command of the Explorer.
Thrust into command, Tsuyoshi was initially unaccustomed to the position. However, he never objected as he knew that Starfleet was not only pressed for resources but also didn't have time to look for a new captain for the Explorer considering the rate at which the Dominion built ships. After repairs and refits the Explorer took part in multiple other engagements against the Dominion. Eventually the Explorer took part in the battle of Cardassia. During the battle, the Explorer was heavily damaged to the point of no repair. Tsuyoshi ordered all hands to abandon ship, but didn't leave the ship himself until he did one last command. He set the ship on a collision course with a Dominion battleship. He barely made it out of the ship alive, one more second and he would've been vaporized in the explosion. That action heavily damaged the Dominion vessel.
After the Dominion war Tsuyoshi was given command of the USS Nagano, a Akira-class vessel. The Nagano's last captain was killed in the Battle of Cardassia. Tsuyoshi was given the task of helping rebuild after the end of the Dominion War. In 2376 at one point was assigned to helping a Federation colony in the Romulan Neutral Zone rebuild. While there he picked up a distress call from a Romulan shuttle that was heavily damaged, on the Federation side of the Neutral Zone. He assisted, and rescued Sublieutenant Levok from the shuttle. Levok was being pursued by the Tal Shiar for political reasons, though nobody could elaborate. He requested asylum in the Federation. Though there was opposition, Tsuyoshi consulted Starfleet and managed to convince them to allow Levok political asylum. Levok apparently still wanted to serve aboard a starship, and Tsuyoshi recommended that he join Starfleet academy. Levok was accepted, and even graduated in 2377, 3 years early because all he needed to learn was the basis which Federation technology operated on and Federation protocols. Tsuyoshi immediately recruited Levok as his helmsman.
In the coming years Levok and Tsuyoshi became close friends. Levok was also promoted many times for exemplary service. By 2379 Levok had been promoted to Commander and was now serving as First Officer aboard the Nagano, and was one of Tsuyoshi's most trusted officers. During this time, Captain Picard of the USS Enterprise engaged Praetor Shinzon. This incident did damage relations between the Federation and the Romulans. Tsuyoshi and Levok nearly resigned their Starfleet commissions after a Rear Admiral in Starfleet started a series of drumhead trials and accused both Tsuyoshi and Levok of being informants of the Romulan Tal Shiar. The drumhead trials were stopped by Starfleet command after Shinzon was defeated, but Tsuyoshi and Levok were both reassigned. Until 2380 Tsuyoshi served aboard Deep Space 5, and on 2380 he accepted the potition of Commanding Officer of the newly commissioned USS Andromeda.

Tsuyoshi looked around the bridge of the Nagano. She was a fine ship, with a fine crew. Their current mission, deliver supplies to several Klingon planets in order to help them rebuild from the Dominion War. Things seemed to be going smoothly so far, Tsuyoshi hoped that it would last. Admitedly, Tsuyoshi wanted to be in uncharted space doing some exploring and making some first contacts, but he would follow the orders. Besides, considering the situation at the end of the Dominion War rebuilding was necessary.
"Captains Log, Stardate 55786.3" said Tsuyoshi as he began his log "We are en route to various systems in the Klingon Empire to deliver some supplies. This should help with the rebuilding after the Dominion War. The end of the Dominion War has been hard for all of us, but this cooperation between the Federation and the Klingons shows just how strong our alliance is, and it shows we're taking steps in the right direction since the end of the Dominion War."
He ended the log entry there. "Helm, what is our ETA to the first system?" asked Tsuyoshi. The response was simple, 3 hours. It was probably going to be an uneventful 3 hours. "I'll be in my ready room, notify me when we are arriving. Levok, you have the bridge." He walked into his ready room, he might as well read up on the latest news in the Federation to kill time, and he also needed to re-acquaint himself with Klingon customs. This may be a long mission, but Tsuyoshi thought it would be an enjoyable one.
